This is a fluid position, meaning there is a career path in this position that has an established criterion that outlines advancement opportunities.

The official name for this position will be:
Water Treatment Plant Operator A, Water Treatment Plant Operator B, Water Treatment Plant Operator C, or Water Operations Service Worker.

) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Collects bacteriological sampling and other DEP and EPA mandated sampling in adherence with strict protocols.
Performs stand-by work, which includes responding to alarms, Control Room calls, and emergencies during non-business hours, troubleshooting, maintenance, and coordination.
Responds to customer inquiries and complaints and provides information, direction, or referral.
Performs general facility maintenance duties at public water supply wells, tanks, and booster stations.
Utilizes SCADA and GIS database to monitor the water system.
Assists Water Treatment plant Operators with daily checks at wells, tanks, and booster stations.
Assists in monitoring and adjusting water treatment equipment.
Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on process equipment.
Records data and laboratory test and analysis.
Replaces and inspects chlorine cylinders.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Water Treatment Plant Operator Level A:
Education, Training, and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by three (3) years' experience in water treatment plant operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Requires a valid Class A Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator's license issued by the State of Florida.
Requires a valid driver license.
Hourly Pay Range:
$30.
14 - $34.
62 Water Treatment Plant Operator Level B:
Education, Training, and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year of experience in water treatment plant operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Requires a valid Class B Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator's license issued by the State of Florida.
Requires a valid driver license.
Hourly Pay Range:
$26.

44 Water Treatment Plant Operator Level C:
Education, Training, and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED supplemented by six (6) months experience in water treatment plant operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Requires a valid Class C Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator's license issued by the State of Florida.
Requires a valid driver license.
Hourly Pay Range:
$24.

56 Water Operations Service Worker:
Education, Training and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by one (1) year of experience in work related to water operations, such as plumbing, mechanical experience, water sampling, or other field work on a public water system; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
Must obtain a Class C Drinking Water Treatment Plant Operator License issued by the State of Florida within 18 months of hire.
Requires a valid driver license.
Hourly Pay Range:
$21.

13 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements:
Must be able to operate a variety of hand-held and electrical equipment and tools.
Must be able to exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 50 to 100 pounds of force frequently, or 10to 25 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Requires the ability to perform manual labor and remain on feet for extended periods of time.
Working environment is consistent with a typical water treatment plant and the potential exposure risks.
Tasks include considerable bending, stooping, climbing, etc.
